I spent five amazing summers while I was at university travelling with Lasallian Projects, spending five weeks in some of the most amazing communities and seeing parts of the world few people ever get the chance to. I first signed up after Lasallian gave a talk at my high school and headed out to Uganda that summer. Five years and four more projects later, I was leading my own group of volunteers on a project in Kenya. Along the way, Iā€™d met so many incredible people, worked on really worthwhile projects and learned so much about the countries I visited and the communities I lived with.

10 years after my last project, I still have close friends from all across the UK that I met during Lasallian projects, and we still talk about the experiences we had like they were yesterday. The projects taught us to be more confident, more considerate and more compassionate, and left many of us with a deep, abiding love for the places we visited and a lifelong sense that we have to work to eradicate the poverty that blights them, wherever we find ourselves in the world.
