I have been very fortunate to have taken part in three Lasallian Projects between 2008 and 2010. The first project I took part in was in Rwanda at the end of my final year of high school. Applying for the project was one of the best choices I have ever made and the experiences that I have had will last me a lifetime!

Throughout each step of the project from fundraising and attending the group meetings, to heading off on the trip itself, I learned lots and more importantly had so much fun! I met many amazing people both from the UK and the countries I visited and have made lifelong friends. Being only 17 I was a little bit apprehensive when I first applied for a project but my trip to Rwanda was so enjoyable that as soon as I got home I reapplied to take part the next year and the year after that! I then went onto visit Kenya and Thailand. Each of the projects were unique but equally amazing and I have very fond memories of each trip. My only regret is not having applied for a fourth project!

Whilst taking part in the projects I was studying at university to become a primary teacher. During each of my trips in addition to building work, I had the opportunity to work with children and gain important teaching experience which has stayed with me ever since. Having the opportunity to learn about and experience a new culture as well as working alongside many people, is an invaluable experience and I would highly recommend taking part in a Lasallian Project
