I feel blessed to be a part of the Lasallian community. I first went on a project to Kenya in 2001 and I can honestly say it changed and shaped the person I am today. I caught the Lasallian bug and was lucky enough to go on three more projects in Sri Lanka, Ghana and a different area in Kenya. The fundraising element in itself helped develop skills in planning and gave me the confidence to present to organisations that offered grants. The opportunity to live and work in a new community, and experience and be a part of a different culture was immeasurable. I continued to play a part in LDWP by being on the management committee for a number of years. It was a pleasure to support the planning of projects, knowing that future volunteers were about the embark on a life changing experience. I have ‘Lasallian friends’ all around the country and I know they will continue to a part of my life, as we shared a unique experience only we can fully grasp. I encourage everyone to take that big leap and experience a ‘project’ – you won’t regret it
